During a chat with actor Ed Helms on a recent episode of his ID10T podcast, Chris Hardwick best summed up Trump's 2016 campaign and subsequent presidency.
- HARDWICK: It was a classic example of... a high school election where you’re running for president of the student body, and then you have people who are really taking it seriously, and you have one clown who is like "I’m just gonna fuck with the system." And (that) kid goes and is like, "If I’m president, then no homework!" And everyone’s like "Woooooooo!!!" But the people who are adhering to the traditional, maybe ethical base of rules are like "That’s not possible — what do you mean, no homework?" ...And (people are like) "This guy’s the fuckin’ best!" And THAT dude ends up getting elected, then he’s like "Oh, fuck — I was just fuckin’ around with you! I didn’t really want this! Now I gotta do this?!"
- HELMS: Then his feet are held to the fire and (people) are like "Well, were you serious about no homework?"
- HARDWICK: And he’s like "I never said that!"
