Today in New York City transportation news:
- BIKE LANES. The bicycle sharing program launched last week hit a milestone today with its 100,000th rider. Altogether, New Yorkers and visitors have logged 270,000 miles on these new blue beauties.
- TRAINS. A subway tunnel that runs under the East River and which was inundated during Superstorm Sandy will be shut down for more than a year.
- AUTOMOBILES. Already in use in many other cities — and once the bane of bad car parkers right here in the Big Apple — the wheel clamp, or boot, is making a comeback.
