Four people died Sunday morning when several Metro North cars derailed in the Bronx, police sources and officials said.
The screeching accident happened near the Spuyten Duyvil Metro-North Railroad station around 7:20 a.m., MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan said.
Five of seven train cars derailed. The train was headed to Manhattan.
Donovan did not know how many people were on board of how many people were injured.
"The cars had left the track but hadn’t gone into the water," Donovan said.
