THE PURVIEW OF DIPLOMATS Myanmar’s opposition leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met with Kurt M. Campbell, U.S. assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, left, on Wednesday in Yangon.  “We stated clearly that the United States is prepared to take steps to improve the relationship (with Myanmmar), but that the process must be based on reciprocal and concrete efforts by the Burmese government,” said Campbell, who described his visit as an “exploratory mission.”  Campbell is the highest-ranking U.S. official to visit Myammar in more than a decade; the country is ruled with an iron fist by a military junta.  (Photo: Nyein Chang Naing / EPA via the New York Times)
