Is it worth spending about $90 to fix a four-year-old Gateway laptop (broken screen hinges, loose power adapter connection, running Windows Vista [yes, Vista]) but otherwise fine?

I have an 8 year old power mac, because I love the design so much I’m going to splash out and make the inside up to date and add OSX Lion.

Only if you can’t afford a newer model. When you can sell it for the $90 to put towards new one.

Probably not, plus the new Win 7 64bit is a way better, faster operating system! New chips like the i3,5,7 far superior to the older chips.

No, I read somewhere that 3 years is the equivalent to 98 computer years.

i’d rather buy a new one… you might just add a little bit more… but you’ll have a better laptop…

Really depends on how much you like it, something probably a little better will set you back about $350-450.
