Churros
This is the traditional (and original) spanish churros and it’s usually sprinkled with sugar (and powder cinnamon sometimes). In Brazil, however, they are found in street vendors (nothing new so far) but they are filled with dulce de leche (sometimes chocolate too). In São Paulo there is ONE place where they make the traditional spiral churros (that can be broken into edible portions) from Andalusia (Spain) and the owner of the place has been making porras (as it’s also known) at the same spot for the past 50 years. He starts frying them at 3am and won’t stop until almost 12pm. If you’re anywhere close/around São Paulo you should definitely visit this city gem. First time I went there myself I couldn’t find the place for it’s hidden in a narrow street in Mooca. Lucky I found the place. Totally worthwhile. (Photo by Carlos Lorenzo)
