“So I’m enjoying this salad, right?  And this guy, Madison Avenue-type, fedora and slick gray suit and everything, like right outta Mad Men, he comes up to me and is all like ‘Hey, you should do an airline commercial for me!  I like your look.’  And this was in the 80’s, mind you, when Americans were really crazy for all things Aussie, you know what I mean?  So I was like ‘Okay, for sure, I just need to see a contract up front, then I’ll put you in touch with my agent and let’s nail this sucker down!’  And he was all like ‘Contracts?  We don’t do contracts at Qantas.’  And I says to him ‘Qantas?  That’s a piece of shit airline, my friend!’  And then he says to me, ‘Hey man, what are you — a Kiwi?’  And that’s when I got really pissed and crammed the last of my salad into my yaw like so and got ready to fight him and he was all like ‘Awww, man, I can’t fight you with a mouth full of salad like that!’  So anyways yeah, this is what I do now, stick salad leaves in my mouth, sort of like a defense mechanism I guess.  Say, do you understand the words that I am saying to you?”
