I don’t know how many times a big city (police) chief has to stand here and say, ‘we need help to stop these weapons from hitting the street.’ This weapon is manufactured for nothing other than to hunt man. It’s used as part of tactical equipment for law enforcement agencies in this country, and it’s in the hands of someone already convicted… Somebody’s gotta wake up and smell the coffee and say, ‘enough is enough.’… We should stop being afraid of the NRA and start being afraid (for) our own rights.
–Jersey City Police Chief Thomas Comey, during a press conference yesterday regarding a shootout with suspects. Five Jersey City police officers were shot, and two are in critical condition. The weapon used by the gunmen: a Mossberg pump-action shotgun.
Let’s wait for these NRA pricks to come out today with their defense of gun ownership in light of - or despite - this shooting.
