So earlier today, after the news broke of Karl Malden’s passing, I got to remembering an episode of Star Trek: Voyager with Lt. Tom Paris’s dad… who I could’ve sworn was played by Mr. Malden.  But I was wrong: the role of Vice Admiral Owen Paris was played by actor Richard Herd, Malden’s doppelganger but in fact about 20 years younger. In addition to playing Owen Paris in four episodes of Voyager, Herd also played a Klingon in the two-part TNG episode, “Birthright.” (Image courtesy Memory Alpha) Zoom
